In this course, we will learn how to work with [Deno](https://deno.land) to create a REST API using TypeScript with the web framework [Oak](https://github.com/oakserver/oak) and the migration tool [Nessie](https://github.com/halvardssm/deno-nessie). 
Deno is a JavaScript runtime created by [Ryan Dahl](https://tinyclouds.org), the same creator for Node, as an attempt to simplify the JavaScript landscape by strictly following the WebAPI specs.

We will explore how to create an application using the powers of TypeScript, and learn how to traverse the Deno ecosystem which is much like the native web ecosystem. 
There are 5 modules that will take you from installing Deno and running your first lines of code, to working with web frameworks and databases, and in the end, deploying your application to a web server using a deployment pipeline.

Throughout this course, you will experience all the different aspects of Deno which you will need to create your own application in the future. 
And from this course, you will get a good feeling for if Deno is ready to be your next default for new projects.

Now that our application has a database connection, and we are ready to create
and run our migrations, we can add our 

 table so that we can implement our
first endpoints.

deno run -A --unstable https://deno.land/x/nessie@2.0.7/cli.ts make:migration create_duck_table

You should now see the migration file in

Using PostgreSQL's syntax, we need something like this in our

  }
}

 column is our primary key and as it is a
CUID, we need to make it 30 char long to follow the cuid specs. The 


is a unique string of reasonable size (max length 40), and the 

 is a
string of max length 60 which will make more sense later.

Run the migration, roll back, and migrate again to check that everything works
as expected.

## Duck model

Now that our application has a database connection, and we are ready to create
and run our migrations, we can add our `duck` table so that we can implement our
first endpoints.

### Migration

Start by creating a new migration.

You should now see the migration file in `db/migrations`.

In the `duck` table, we need three columns:
