Using databases with Deno

Introducing Deno databases

Welcome to the second module of Build and Deploy a REST API with Deno. In this module, we will take a look at how to connect three different databases to our Deno application. The database systems we will use are PostgreSQL (lesson 1), MySQL (lesson 2), and SQLite (lesson 3).

We will go on to use PostgreSQL as we develop our REST API in later modules, but you are free to follow along with your database system of choice. This means you don't have to go through all of the lessons in this module if you are only interested in one of the databases!

If you are not interested in installing Docker or any of the databases locally, I will recommend you to use SQLite as you do not need anything else except for Deno.

There have been recent efforts from the database client authors to create a shared interface to simplify the use of the clients. It is not yet ready, but the effort is ongoing in thispull request.
